synchronicity

Just as I am passing by, a woman steps briskly out her front door.  She turns and waves at an upstairs window. At the same time another hand appears inside the main floor shop window to turn the store's sign to 'open'.  For one millisecond their hands form a perfect arch in mid air.

want one? I'll give you twenty

The smiling green grocer is pleased to give me as many boxes as he can.  "Take these apple boxes" he says, "they're particularly good for long moves."

into the unknown

This year will bring many new experiences for me, including a move across the country to Nova Scotia.  As my days fill with planning and packing, I'm reminded again and again that it is the love of friends that gives me the strength to fly into the unknown.

I love you, I need you.  Thank you.

all things new

The anticipation of a new year with its yet unknown experiences and unmet friends makes me breathless with excitement.  At the same time I look back to 2010 with gratitude and deep peace, knowing that this past year helped bring me to this place of change and growth.  I think I'm ready - hello 2011!

welcome home

T is back from vacation and his text messages start filling my inbox again.  Welcome home, my friend!  It's been too quiet without you.

The snow that fell overnight left the mountains' contours outlined in deep blue shadows.  There's a light mist too and it connects the fields to the sky in one long sheet of white and grey.  On our walk the sun is just setting behind Sumas Mountain, leaving faint traces of the day's colours reflected on the water.
